Brewery Contamination Analysis


The craft beer industry has grown dramatically over the past decade, bringing beer lovers some of the best and most unique beers to the market. Unfortunately, beer can become contaminated through poor cleaning, contaminated ingredients, or human error. Beer yeast is what gives beer its unique flavor and, of course, its alcohol content; however, wild yeast is naturally found in the environment and when it enters the brewing process, this may result in damage to the beer and a product recall.

In one such case, Rimkus was able to work with the brewery to provide laboratory analysis confirming the contamination from wild yeast and identified one of their starting ingredients as the source. This information provided an avenue of recovery and the brewery return to normal operations.
