Background

The Paulist Fathers Residence was constructed c. 1931 and consists of original solid brick-masonry construction. The Chapel features an ornate carved stone entrance and stained-glass windows. Given the building’s age, the original brick masonry and stone façade elements were showing signs of deterioration. The stone window surrounds were weathered and discolored. The stained-glass window, which is situated atop the building entrance has also lost its light transmittance, thus appearing dark and lackluster.

Services Provided

Rimkus’s work included consultation with the client to establish a design intent based on the building’s budget. Rimkus developed a design package that included building plans, elevations, details, and specifications for the proposed restoration work. The project was bid out to 3 contractors. Prior to awarding the project, Rimkus worked closely with the client in the selection of a suitable contractor. Throughout the 15-month long project, Rimkus provided construction administration services to ensure that the project was performed in accordance with the design drawings and specifications.
