Background

Over more than 20 years, Mr. Miller has been actively involved in the operation, maintenance, analysis, and design of ships and ship systems, including stability analysis and testing, vessel regulatory compliance, accident investigation, efficiency and fuel cost reduction, vessel design and maintenance, construction disputes, naval operations, system tests and sea trials, and evaluation of new technology. He is experienced on a variety of vessel types, including cruise ships, large commercial and private yachts, tugs and barges, small passenger vessels, offshore vessels, research vessels, and recreational craft. His analysis has been presented in numerous engineering reports for statutory approval, Naval Sea Systems Command and Office of Naval Research studies, litigation reports, and peer-reviewed technical articles.

Mr. Miller’s experience has been gained in areas including vessel operations engineering design, consulting, and project management. Operational experience includes having served a crew on board small passenger vessels and a deck officer on a U.S. Navy gas turbine-powered frigate. He is trained in large vessel project management and has worked in shipyard engineering, large and small naval architecture design/consulting firms, and forensic engineering firms.
