Ahmad N. Elhajj

Consultant / P.E. / Houston

Background

Mr. Elhajj holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics, both from the University of Virginia. For his undergraduate education, he concentrated in structural analysis, non-destructive evaluation of structures, and nanotechnology. His research focused on code-cycles effects on bridge failures, steel bridge construction sequencing, and concrete failure mitigation techniques using nanomaterial admixtures. Currently, he is a registered professional engineer in Texas, Louisiana, and Virginia.

Areas of expertise include structural analysis; design and performance analysis of cast-in-place and post-tensioned concrete structures; steel building systems; wood-framed structures; concrete anchorage design, detailing, and analysis; and metal roof diaphragm analysis. He has performed design work, prepared contract documents, performed quality control and structural integrity investigations, and specified and supervised implementation of retrofit procedures for existing structures. He has further knowledge in code compliance, construction defects, foundation design and repairs, post-fire structural issues, and concrete materials testing.

Prior to joining Rimkus, Mr. Elhajj worked on assignments in the building, construction, and energy industries. He obtained broad-based experience in performing construction troubleshooting on both new and existing structures and nondestructive evaluation of concrete and steel structures using ultrasonic and electromagnetic methods.
