Mr. Frank holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S.E. degree in Aerospace Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Massachusetts.
Mr. Frank’s professional background includes the development, testing, and evaluation of restraint and vehicle structural systems. He led the analysis team that developed a redesigned vehicle structure for improved crash performance for existing and new requirements. While at multiple vehicle manufacturers, he created and executed test plans for component and full vehicle crash test plans to certify motor vehicle lines to applicable requirements, including Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), Public Domain (such as IIHS and NCAP), and internal corporate requirements. He is familiar with worldwide regulatory requirements, including USA (FMVSS), Europe (EU/ECE), and China (GB) as well as Public Domain test standards (such as US NCAP, Euro NCAP, IIHS).
While at a Tier 1 supplier, Mr. Frank led the testing of a Level 2+ Autonomous Driving vehicle system. This work included preparing and instrumenting vehicles to collect all necessary data for testing and analysis, updating vehicles, preparing and executing the test plan to demonstrate performance, and conducting test drives for evaluation and demonstration of system performance with both company and customer executives.
Mr. Frank has completed vehicular accident reconstruction analyses for passenger and commercial vehicles. He has also analyzed pedestrian accidents as well as bicycle and motorcycle collisions. He is trained and certified to download and analyze Event Data Recorder information from passenger vehicles related to accident reconstruction.
