Background

Mr. Zimpel graduated with honors from North Carolina State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer with over 19 years of experience providing forensic engineering services to clients in the insurance and legal industries, performing thousands of site inspections for residential, commercial, industrial, marine, and church structures in over 38 states. Mr. Zimpel has provided reconstruction assistance following various natural disasters, including: Hurricanes Wilma, Ike, Irene, Sandy, Irma, Matthew, and Florence; hailstorms and tornados in the Midwest and Southeast; seismic structural damage in North Carolina and Virginia; and flooding throughout the U.S. 

Mr. Zimpel is an expert in property loss structural inspections for cause and origin analysis. His assessment experience extends to residential and commercial flooding, wind vs. wave analysis, hail damage, hurricanes, tornados, seismic damage, water intrusion, design errors/omissions, bulkheads, seawalls, structural evaluations, construction defects, installation defects, code compliance, ice damming, vehicle impact, chimney defects, drainage, erosion, expansive soils, flooring damage, lightning, mold, plumbing leaks, snow loading, structural collapse, tree impact, water intrusion, windstorm, wood rot, roof collapse, and more.

During his career, Mr. Zimpel has held various positions in the fields of construction and design and in the process gained extensive knowledge in areas such as residential construction, environmental facilities design on the structural side, and curtainwall and storefront systems. Mr. Zimpel is an North Carolina and Florida approved continuing education instructor who has presented seminars to insurance adjusters on a variety of topics, including flood training, residential and commercial roofing, construction defects, hail damage, and moisture intrusion.
