Background

Mr. Murphy earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Western Kentucky University and an M.C.E. degree in Geotechnical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He has over 36 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, including consulting engineering and engineering and construction management. He is a registered professional engineer in Florida and a certified general contractor in Florida.

His construction experience is significant and spans the entire range of job functions within the building construction industry, including laborer, carpenter, foreman, superintendent, project manager, and executive.

His geotechnical engineering experience includes subsurface investigations of residential, industrial, and commercial structures, foundation analysis for both deep and shallow foundations, and analysis and design of earth dams. His extensive expertise also includes materials testing and inspection of soils, concrete, structural steel, masonry, stucco, and asphalt.

His forensic engineering experience includes failure assessments of distressed and damaged residential and commercial buildings due to building settlement and foundation issues, moisture and water intrusion, roofing system failures, and failure of materials including concrete, masonry, stucco, and wood. He has also provided engineering consultations, deposition testimony, and trial testimony to attorneys for structural failures, both geotechnical and materials related, construction disputes and defects, and other forensic issues.
