Background

Mr. Pai received his Master's degree in Civil Engineering Stanford University. He is a Registered Civil Engineer (CE), Structural Engineer (SE), and General Contractor in California with experience in civil/structural design, project management, and construction documentation and management. He has extensive design and construction experience in the commercial, industrial, electronics, pharmaceutical, educational, healthcare, research lab and residential sectors.

Mr. Pai’s expertise and experience knowledge cover over 30 years in the areas of construction, construction document production, specification writing and editing, structural analysis and design, project management and scheduling, construction administration and management, cost  estimating and budget control, implementation of quality control procedures, forensic field investigations.

Mr. Pai’s experience includes the structural analysis and preparation of structural calculations and construction documents for buildings and utility structures constructed of reinforced concrete, reinforced concrete masonry, and structural steel, cold-formed steel and wood materials.  He has also provided estimating and scheduling support for new construction, renovations and repairs.

Mr. Pai has investigated building settlement, fire, earthquake, tree fall, wind and hurricane damage evaluations, vehicle impact damage evaluation, concrete failure analysis, concrete and masonry cracking, retaining wall failures, construction vibration analysis, floor and roofing system failures, moisture intrusion through building envelopes and pool failures. 

Mr. Pai is experienced in the application of the International Building Code, California Building Code, ASCE 07 for seismic and wind  loads, and the following design specifications; ACI for concrete structures, ACI 530 for masonry, AISC for steel structures, SJI for steel joists, SDI for steel decks, and NDS for wood structures.  He has also been a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California since 1986.
