Background

Mr. Riegel holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Colorado. He has extensive experience in planning and engineering related to industrial, commercial, municipal, and residential projects, specializing in environmental and geotechnical engineering. His design and construction experience spans the planning and development of roads, highways, subdivisions, residential buildings, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities, to involvement in a range of sub-disciplines including transportation, environmental, geotechnical, mining, structural, water impoundment, and stormwater management. 

Over the years, Mr. Riegel has worked in a variety of commercial and industrial roles as a consultant to both oil and gas, mining, residential, industrial, and commercial clients and developers, providing him a broad range of project-specific experience in the following areas: hydrology, hydraulics, roadway design, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water supply, irrigation, grading, drainage, dam break and breach analysis, flood hazard delineation, FEMA floodplain studies, due diligence studies, master planning studies, hard rock mining, gas compression and distribution facilities, equipment foundation design (precast and cast-in-place concrete), erosion and sediment control facilities, and retaining walls. Mr. Riegel has created and integrated drainage, utilities, roadways, and access with various site layouts and building designs. He has coordinated site design with architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems, ensuring whole project functionality, continuity, and constructability.

He has a vast working knowledge and has performed property condition assessments, cause and origin analysis of infrastructure failures and defects, including specialized work on water impoundment facilities, rockfall mitigation systems, construction accidents, and high elevation roadways and highways. Mr. Riegel has completed numerous forensic assignments on roofing systems, foundation systems, superstructures, shoring systems, premises liability assessments (trips/slips/falls), construction defects, construction delays, and has also provided expert testimony and litigation support.
