Background

Accomplished innovation leader with strong technical background and recognized business acumen, Dr. Lye received his Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from North Carolina State University and a B.Sc. in Colour Chemistry from the University of Leeds, U.K.

Dr. Lye has over 30 years’ experience in the chemistry of dyes, pigments, textiles, inks, paints, and coatings, including both textile and non-textile applications. Dr. Lye consults in many related fields, including dyes for non-textile applications, color matching and color printing, color physics, human color perception, and color specification, cosmetics formulation, food, drug, and cosmetics colorants, colorants for wool and wool dyeing, cellulosics, including cotton, linen, polynosic, lycocel, rayon and the coloration thereof, colorants and polymer chemistry of synthetics such as nylon, acrylic, polyester, PET, and other synthetics, colorants for paper, colorants for writing instruments, high opacity pigments, colorants for the coloration of metals, metallic leafing colorants, and invisible ink colorants.

Dr. Lye is recognized as a licensed chartered colorist (SDC), a Ph.D. chemist, and a top intellectual property strategist (IAM Magazine). He has over 20 issued U.S. patents with additional U.S. patents in prosecution, and multiple commercialized products.

Dr. Lye has contributed to peer-reviewed publications, conference proceedings, and books in the field of dye and color chemistry and continues to be involved in product design and development.
