John Cavallaro

Senior Consultant / P.E., CFEI / Raleigh

Background

Mr. Cavallaro holds a B.S. degree in Physics and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in New York, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. He is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI).

He has experience in various fields of electrical engineering, initiated with avionics testing on the Space Shuttle and moving into integrated circuits design and testing. For the first 16 years of his career, he developed application specific programmable computers, including their software programs. The development entailed project and programming skills that he either learned on his own when working on the Space Shuttle or through formal education in Assembly and Basic programming languages.

He received his professional engineering licensure in Electrical Power in 1993. He further developed an expertise in power quality assessments and harmonic analysis of electrical power. His work included the design of large battery backup systems to support the then young cellular phone industry. During this time, Mr. Cavallaro developed an interest in forensic science studying electrical and fire and explosion incidences.

Mr. Cavallaro’s has focused his areas of expertise in electrical shock and electrocutions as well as alternating current (AC) electrical power distribution and harmonic analysis, direct current (DC) voltage and large battery distribution and failure analysis. He combines his electrical expertise with his formal fire investigation training to provide a complimentary knowledge in every field of electrical engineering.
