Katherine E. Bemis

Ms. Bemis is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.  Ms. Bemis is a registered engineering intern with experience in structural engineering analysis, design, failure analysis, and construction services.  Ms. Bemis’ construction industry experience includes design of prestressed reinforced concrete to coincide with ACI and PCI construction standards, generating shop drawings for concrete manufacturing, quality control, and loading and construction scheduling.

Ms. Bemis’ areas of expertise include the analysis and design of cast-in-place reinforced concrete structures, steel building systems, stormwater management, and public infrastructure. She has performed finite element analyses on nuclear casks, concrete structures, and steel bridges using programs such as Abaqus and SAP2000.  Ms. Bemis has conducted dozens of experiments, comparing analytical models to experimental data and analyzing any variations.  She has also supported customers designing data centers for optimum heating and cooling using CoolSim software.  Ms. Bemis’ most recent work includes inspection and analysis of failures in civil/structural engineering related to industrial, commercial, and residential buildings.  Assignments have included construction defect litigation, foundation and superstructure failures, storm damage, premises liability, geotechnical/structural damage assessments, product liability and equipment sciences, and deficiencies related to building code compliance for single-family and multi-family residences and commercial buildings.
