Background

Mr. Layman earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology with specialization in structural engineering. He has over 5 years of consulting engineering experience in structural design, analysis, evaluation, inspections and construction management and is a licensed professional engineer in Florida and California. 

Mr. Layman’s experience prior to joining Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. includes structural analysis, design, construction management, and inspections as well as other engineering services for non-building structures, including the railway and transportation industries. His design experience includes rehabilitation construction projects utilizing timber and steel framing, bolted and welded connections, cast-in-place concrete for heavy railroad bridges, as well as design and analysis for construction of cast-in-place concrete and sheet pile retaining walls for the railway and transportation industries. He has also designed a pedestrian tunnel beneath a railway with two active tracks.
 
His experience includes investigations on residential and commercial structures including foundations, structural framing, building envelopes, roof systems and structural damage assessments from a variety of reported incidences; including, storms, water intrusion and construction-related defects. He has provided consulting services concerning structural and property damage evaluation, failure causation, construction defects, code compliance, and repairs/remediation for structures.
