Background

Mr. Childress’ career has spanned over twenty years as a fire investigator, law enforcement officer, fire codes inspector, hazardous materials technician, and firefighter.  He has served as a Fire Inspector/Investigator and Fire Marshal for the City of Jackson, Tennessee.  His duties included supervision and management of the Jackson Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Bureau.  He has also served as a Police Officer for the Town of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, and as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Madison County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Childress has investigated numerous fires in commercial structures, single and multi-family residential dwellings, commercial and passenger vehicles, heavy equipment and fire-related fatalities.  Mr. Childress has given expert testimony in court regarding fire origin and cause determinations and the conduct of criminal investigations related to incendiary fires.

Mr. Childress is a Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI), Fire Investigation Technician (FIT), and holds the Motor Vehicle Fire Endorsement (V) through the International Association of Arson Investigators.  He is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators.

Mr. Childress has thirteen years’ experience in the field of fire code interpretation and fire protection systems analysis and is certified as a Fire Inspector I & II through the International Codes Council.  He currently holds a license as a Fire Codes Inspector through the State of Tennessee.
