M. Mark Leonard

Mr. Leonard holds a M.S. in Engineering in civil engineering from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Benedictine College.
His professional practice is focused in the areas of accident investigation and reconstruction, trailer design, and testing. Furthermore, Mr. Leonard has extensive education, training and experience in vehicular accident reconstruction, combination vehicle dynamics, vehicle crash modeling, failures of vehicle systems and components, and development and conducting of vehicle crash tests, combination vehicle handling tests, and component specific testing.
Mr. Leonard has performed accident reconstruction and analyses on hundreds of cases involving passenger vehicles, combination vehicles, commercial combination vehicles, pedestrian accidents, motorcycle accidents, rollovers of passenger and commercial vehicles and has testified as an expert witness in state and federal courts throughout the United States in these areas. He is familiar with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Society of Automotive Engineers Standards, and the testing required to evaluate compliance with those standards.
Mr. Leonard has experience in a wide variety of vehicle and component testing, including vehicle crash, rollover, and sled testing, automotive component and FMVSS testing, combination vehicle testing, hitch systems, trailer and trailer design, vehicle and trailer braking, and user instructions. His research includes development of software for analysis of trailer design and combination vehicle dynamic modeling; design, optimization and strength analysis of structural trailer components; combination vehicle crash test modeling; and development of combination vehicle test procedures.
