Mark L. Calaway

Senior Consultant / Little Rock

Background

A graduate of the Missouri University of Science and Technology with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Calaway specializes in all phases of project management—from concept to production in an ISO 9001 environment. He possesses over 25 years of experience designing J.D. Power award-winning, world-class equipment, components, and cooling systems.

Mr. Calaway has expertise in design, performance, and durability testing for class 6, 7, and 8 trucks as well various types of mobile equipment (hybrid bus, skid steers, etc.) in the cooling system and powertrain areas. He has conducted operator ergonomic and visibility studies as well as hydraulic-control response testing on heavy equipment. His heavy equipment testing has been geared toward operator ease of use: visibility, comfort, control responsiveness, ergonomics, and stability.

He also has design experience with high-pressure fittings and water jet intensifier pumps. In addition, he has training in design for Six Sigma and DFEMA (Design Failure Modes and Effects).

Mr. Calaway’s most recent forensic work includes: investigating a lightning strike to a medium-duty wrecker; evaluating the legitimacy of a metal handler hydraulics contamination claim; determining the cause of a sump pump failure; investigating a water leak in a trailer that resulted in floor warping; and assessing damage to an 8,000-gallon, above-ground industrial diesel tank that ruptured while being filled.
