Nicholas B. Palmer

Mr. Palmer holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structures, is currently licensed to practice civil engineering in eight states and is qualified through the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). He has over 35 years of engineering experience specializing in the design and construction management of retail, commercial/residential site developments and affordable housing projects.
Mr. Palmer has extensive experience in the investigation and assessment of damage to buildings from varying causes including; fire, moisture intrusion, vehicle and aircraft strikes and weather related events. In this capacity, he has provided expert guidance in regard to the extent of damage caused by these incidents and has provided either temporary or permanent repair recommendations.
Mr. Palmer is also responsible for inspecting various types of roofing systems to verify their compliance with manufacturer specifications and construction documents. He has provided consulting services in the evaluation of hail and wind damage to roofing systems, having performed hundreds of inspections of individual residential and commercial roofs for storm damage. Mr. Palmer provides consulting services for catastrophe damage evaluation, building envelope performance failures (roofing, facades, waterproofing, stucco & EIFS), construction drawing and specification reviews.
Mr. Palmer has also conducted multiple premises liability (slip, trip & fall) investigations of walkway accidents occurring at hotels, parking structures, , commercial buildings and personal residences. In the course of his work, he has developed a thorough working knowledge of current walkway safety standards, building codes and ADA design requirements. Mr. Palmer is experienced with feasibility studies, design, permitting, and construction oversight of site grading, drainage and utility coordination for commercial projects.
Mr. Palmer is well versed in the applications and field use of construction layout technology and instruments including Matterport, drones, 3D laser scanning and total stations.
