BACKGROUND:
Mr. Nik Favretto holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a M.S. in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural/Earthquake engineering. Over his 20+ year career, he has performed structural analysis and design for new wood-framed, steel, and reinforced concrete buildings; seismic evaluation and retrofit design of existing wood-framed, steel, concrete masonry unit (CMU), unreinforced stone masonry, unreinforced brick masonry, and non-ductile concrete buildings; and construction administration in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors in California.
In his 7 years of experience as an owner/project manager managing large international construction projects, Mr. Favretto was responsible for client relations, contract negotiations, scope and proposal reviews, budgets, estimating, scheduling, bidding, subcontractor scope, communication, coordination, on-site management, and quality control/assurance. He has also managed the design and construction of new military camps for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the reconstruction of war-damaged buildings.
Mr. Favretto has 12 years of leadership experience as a principal and engineering manager. He was responsible for implementing policies, developing budgets, and providing support for the development and implementation of strategic and long-range planning efforts. As an engineer of record, he oversaw the design and construction administration of residential, commercial, hospitality, worship, industrial, and military projects, and documents review, including drawings, calculations, and reports. He also performed site investigations to determine the cause and origin of construction defects, prepared reports to document the cause of structural defects, and recommended remediation.
Mr. Favretto is experienced in the application of multiple industry standards and specifications including the International Building Code (IBC), California Building Code (CBC), Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures (ASCE 07), Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Buildings (ASCE 41), American Concrete Institute (ACI 318), Building Code Requirements and Specification for Masonry Structures (TMS 402/602), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), Steel Joist Institute (SJI), Steel Deck Institute (SDI), and National Design Specification for Wood Construction (NDS).
With Rimkus, Mr. Favretto investigates and evaluates building and site damage caused by earthquakes and seismic disturbances, subsidence, foundation settlement, fires, straight-line winds, ice and snow, floods, hailstorms, mechanical forces, construction vibrations, vehicle and tree impacts, plumbing leaks, and construction defects.
