Background

Mr. Ott received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Western Michigan University. He has conducted or participated in more than 700 forensic investigations including fire origin and cause, and forensic electrical and mechanical inspections for the purpose of analyzing potential fire-causing failures. He has provided expert opinions and testimony on matters involving residential and commercial building fires, explosions, and consumer products and appliance failure analysis. He has conducted numerous fire investigations involving fireplaces, wood-burning stoves and chimney systems. He has investigated numerous natural gas and propane related residential and commercial structure explosions.

Mr. Ott is a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI), a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), a Certified Chimney Sweep (CCS) and a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in multiple states.
