Stephen D. Mooney

Background

Mr. Mooney is a Certified Fire Investigator and a Certified Evidence Collection Technician. He has served as Fire Marshal for the City of Hattiesburg Fire Department in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

As the Fire Marshal, Mr. Mooney implemented a joint task force for investigations with the State Fire Marshal’s office to expand resources including the ability to utilize DSFM investigators and canine units. He also implemented two State Law Enforcement certified personnel trained in firefighting, inspections, and investigations.

Mr. Mooney now serves as Battalion Chief/Senior Investigator for the Hattiesburg Fire Department and has more than 20 years of experience relating to fire inspections and investigation including residential, commercial and industrial fire investigations. He also has completed numerous educational seminars and continuing education courses in the field of fire investigation, evidence retention, and search and rescue.

Mr. Mooney is also a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the Mississippi Fire Investigators Association (MSFIA), the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF Local 184), and the National Association of Search and Rescue (NASAR).
