William L. Cate

Background

Mr. Cate holds a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering Degree from MIT and is a registered professional Architect. He has extensive experience in all phases of architecture including design, construction documents, specifications, and contract/construction administration. In addition, his experience as an Owner’s Representative working with a variety of facility owners incorporates a broad range of additional, valuable skills including programming, site development, design management, code analysis, cost estimating, permitting and entitlements, construction management, project closeout, warranty execution, insurance claim management, and dispute resolution.

Mr. Cate’s past projects include high-end residential, commercial, and hotel structures; land planning; mixed-use urban development; office and retail tenant improvements; museum/civic facilities; educational/dormitory structures; historic renovations; and multi-family residential buildings. He has experience in property and asset management, due diligence, property condition assessments, building code compliance, life safety analysis, and accessibility standards.

As a forensic investigator, Mr. Cate is responsible for the inspection and analysis of storm damage, building structure and envelope failure, moisture intrusion, construction defects, architecture and construction management professional standards of care, and premises liability evaluations in relation to slip/trip and fall events and means of egress claims. Mr. Cate is qualified to evaluate construction and property claims on a variety of project types unlimited to commercial, residential, civic, religious, hospitality, and multi-family residential buildings.
