M. Steven Hall est titulaire d’un B.S.E. en génie physique et d’une maîtrise en génie industriel et opérationnel de l’Université du Michigan. Il possède une expertise dans les domaines de la conception d’avertissements et d’instructions, de l’ergonomie, de l’ingénierie des facteurs humains et de la sécurité des produits et du travail.
M. Hall est président du comité Z535 de l’American National Standards Institute (ANSI) sur les panneaux et les couleurs de sécurité. Ce comité établit des normes consensuelles nationales pour, entre autres, les étiquettes de sécurité des produits et les informations de sécurité dans les manuels de produits. Auparavant, il a été président du sous-comité ANSI Z535.4 sur les panneaux et les étiquettes de sécurité des produits. Il est membre et ancien vice-président du sous-comité ANSI Z535.6 sur les informations de sécurité des produits dans les manuels de produits, les instructions et autres documents collatéraux. Il est également membre du sous-comité de l’ANSI Z535.5 sur les étiquettes de sécurité et les rubans de barricade (pour les dangers temporaires) et du sous-comité Z535.2 sur les panneaux de sécurité de l’environnement et des installations. Il siège au TAG américain du Comité technique 145 de l’Organisation internationale de normalisation (ISO) sur les symboles graphiques.
