Tropical Storm Gordon drenches the U.S. Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Gordon made landfall near the Alabama-Mississippi border Tuesday night, producing torrential downpours and near-hurricane level winds. Many residents were left without electricity as toppled trees downed power lines and damaged structures throughout the Gulf Coast. Continued threats of heavy rain and flooding are concerns for parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and as far north as Illinois and Iowa as the storm travels inland.
