Course Description: Accident Investigation and Evidence Gathering is a one-hour seminar designed to educate participants about vehicle accidents, the evidence gathering process, and event data recorders (EDR). The presentation introduces multiple types of reported vehicle crashes, including phantom vehicles, sideswipes, and rear-end crashes. It also covers the process of gathering evidence after an accident, which includes investigating the site, properly gathering and maintaining evidence, collecting witness statements, and obtaining medical documentation. Participants will also learn about vehicle event data recorders, the use of EDR-contained data in a crash investigation, and how to identify situations in which a consultant is needed.

Kevin Haney is a Principal Transportation Consultant and ACTAR-certified traffic accident reconstructionist who holds numerous certifications in accident reconstruction, airbag control module downloads and analysis, and commercial vehicle braking systems. He has more than 15 years of professional experience in failure analysis and accident reconstruction with an emphasis on commercial vehicle accident reconstruction. Mr. Haney is responsible for performing forensic investigations and evaluations of vehicular collisions of all types. He has performed accident reconstructions on thousands of collisions involving commercial tractors and trailers, passenger cars, pedestrians, motorcycles and bicycles, trains, and large crashes involving multiple vehicles. He holds a B.S. degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Central Oklahoma.
