Evaluating Structural Damage from Catastrophe Events is a one-hour course designed to help participants understand the process by which property damage caused by catastrophic events can be assessed.  It will also discuss the damage due to tornados, high winds, hail, fires, and earthquakes and will help explain the various building codes, construction types, and how they relate to this topic. Various examples of damage caused by these topics and how to distinguish that damage from other damage sources will be provided. Course Description:

James “Wes” Jordan is a licensed Professional Engineer in 12 states and a licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois. His more than 30 years of experience with structural design and forensic engineering include work in the commercial, residential, industrial, power/energy, municipal, agricultural, and manufacturing sectors. He has performed hundreds of evaluations of structures affected by construction defects, moisture intrusion, foundation movement, explosions, vibrations, catastrophic storms, earthquakes, vehicle impacts, and fires. As Vice President and National Division Manager, Mr. Jordan is responsible for overseeing the technical operations of the Rimkus Property Division and its consultants. He has published and presented numerous papers for the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a member of multiple professional associations. He serves as a Governor-appointed Indiana Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commissioner. Mr. Jordan earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas AandM University.
