Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. invites you to join Steven H. Boyd, Jr., P.E., Construction Practice Leader, West Region, for a free, one-hour continuing education on-demand webinar, “Roof Construction, Materials, and Problem.” This presentation will be available until December 31, 2022.


Course Description: Roof Construction, Materials, and Problems is a one-hour presentation designed to provide the audience with a knowledge and basic understanding of the different types of roofs commonly used today. The course discusses typical roof construction and installation methods; how various roofs are affected by natural weather cycles—such as high winds, hail, or freeze; and how to identify damage to, or failure of, these type roofs. More specifically, the course is geared to help participants recognize the methods commonly used when building and installing roofs, and to recognize the specific damage often associated with storms, natural weather cycles, or other failures.

Rimkus Construction Practice Leader Steven Boyd is a registered professional engineer in 20 states. He holds additional certifications in 40-hour OSHA Training, and as an XL Tribometrist, forklift operator, and mobile crane and rigging inspector. Formerly a licensed general contractor, Mr. Boyd’s diverse background includes experience with design, engineering, civil construction, foundations, framing, steel, concrete, building envelopes, windows, exterior cladding systems, interior and exterior finishes, roofing systems, HVAC, and fire sprinkler and plumbing systems related to both commercial and residential projects. He is responsible for investigating and evaluating a wide variety of building projects to determine the cause and origin of failures as a result of construction and design defects; standard of care for engineers and contractors; water and moisture intrusion; slips, trips, and falls; ADA accessibility analysis; building envelope failures and general construction failures, including construction accidents. Mr. Boyd earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton.
