Course Description: The primary goal of the presentation is to assist insurance and legal professionals with their vertical transportation claims. Defining the types of claims, defining the types of injuries, and then explaining ways to work these claims in an efficient manner. Ways to work with elevator companies and with building owners to complete their claims and ensure the safety of the passengers that will ride on the vertical transportation systems in the future.

Lawrence Marley is a Rimkus Senior Consultant and a professional engineer registered in 15 states. He has more than 20 years of experience in product design manufacturing, engineering, and quality management. He also has more than 25 years of expertise related to vertical transportation, and he can assist in projects involving water damage, personal injury, component malfunction, improper maintenance, and improper usage of elevators, escalators, moving walks, wheelchair lifts, dumbwaiters, and hydraulic lifts. He has designed and assisted in the installation and maintenance of elevators and escalators, as well as reviewed and determined damages to elevator and escalator systems to establish root cause failure analysis. An ACTAR-certified Traffic Accident Reconstructionist, Mr. Marley can assist in EDR (black box) downloads on passenger vehicles and ECM downloads on commercial vehicles, full accident reconstructions, digital mapping of accident scenes, 3-D mapping, accident layouts, and speed calculations. He holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Technological University.
