Caithness-Moray High-Voltage Transmission Link Project
September 19, 2024
Background
The Caithness-Moray high-voltage transmission link includes a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) subsea cable beneath the Moray Firth. The £1.1 billion project enabled the connection from Caithness to Moray of up to 1,200MW of additional generation capacity in northern Scotland.
The works included two HVDC Converters, 110km of subsea cable, 60km of land cable, multiple subsea and land crossings, landfalls, horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and open cut trenching, multiple wayleaves, and environment constraints and interfaces.
Services Provided
Rimkus provided commercial and contract management support services under a framework contract with the client to deliver its biggest construction project to date, at the time.
