Dr. Alvaro Mejia graduated in Civil/Structural Engineering from the University of Surrey, Guildford, England UK. He holds a Master of Science degree and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Structural Engineering from Florida International University (FIU). His Ph.D. dissertation involved the design and development of a large-scale downburst simulator at the Wall of Wind (WoW) open jet tunnel and included conducting a study of how thunderstorm extreme winds affect low-rise buildings. Dr. Mejia has over 20 years of experience in roof consulting and testing and is familiar with Miami-Dade product certification and testing application protocols. He also holds vast knowledge in structural engineering, roofing construction, and wind design of building envelopes, components, and cladding.
