Mr. Joseph Ramil Manalo has more than three decades of experience as a structural engineer, effectively and efficiently leading teams of structural engineers and designers through all phases of design and on to construction support.

His extensive experience includes design and development of contract documents for building and non-building structures such as school buildings and facilities; healthcare facilities; airports; swimming pools and other sports facilities; commercial and residential buildings; industrial buildings and facilities; power production/transmission structures and support facilities; communication towers; and construction management for private land development projects.

He has performed various forensic engineering work on conditions of existing buildings and non-building structures. He was invited by the Court of Law as either Expert Witness or Commissioner of Court to shed light on issues concerning structural damage claims brought about by substandard construction practices and/or faulty structural design. He had developed numerous designs for the structural repair and retrofit of various types of structures as a result of these forensic investigations.

Mr. Manalo was a Visiting Scientist at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo, Japan) under the Core University Program of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). He has conducted researches related to Non-Destructive Evaluation of Structural Concrete and Steel Members using Ultrasonic Methods.

Concurrently with his practice, he was actively involved in the academe for 19 years as a University Professor. Mr. Manalo served as Acting Dean of the College of Engineering & Technology and Chair of the Civil and Architecture Departments of the University of the City of Manila. He was a Professorial Chair holder and taught in the graduate and undergraduate programs of the Civil Engineering Department of the De La Salle University – Manila.
