Mr. Kevin Layman earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology with a specialization in structural engineering.  He has over 9 years of consulting engineering experience in structural design, analysis, evaluation, inspections, and construction management and is a licensed professional engineer in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas.  Mr. Layman is a certified XL Tribometrist and performs slip resistance index testing and building code compliance assessments in relation to personal injury claims.

Mr. Layman’s experience prior to joining Rimkus includes structural analysis, design, construction management, and inspections, as well as other engineering services for nonbuilding structures, including the railway and transportation industries. His design experience includes rehabilitation construction projects utilizing timber and steel framing, bolted and welded connections, cast-in-place concrete for heavy railroad bridges, as well as design and analysis for the construction of cast-in-place concrete and sheet pile retaining walls for the railway and transportation industries. He has also designed a pedestrian tunnel beneath a railway with two active tracks.

His experience includes investigations on residential and commercial structures, including foundations, structural framing, building envelopes, roof systems, and structural damage assessments from a variety of reported incidences including, storms, water intrusion, and construction-related defects. He has provided consulting services concerning structural and property damage evaluation, failure causation, construction defects, code compliance, and repairs/remediation for structures.
