Hugh is a chartered civil and structural engineer and a chartered project manager. He is also a qualified adjudicator.

He has over 35 years of experience in civil, structural, and multidisciplinary design and construction delivery of major infrastructure and building projects, both in the UK and internationally. His experience has been gained through working directly on client-side and through working with contractors on many design-build, alliancing, BOT, EPC, and PFI projects where he has undertaken senior project delivery leadership roles.

Hugh has wide-ranging technical expertise in all aspects of civil and structural engineering relating to infrastructure and building projects including design of major concrete and steelwork structures, which expertise is complemented by his specialist skills in geotechnical, foundation, and water engineering.

Hugh also has significant experience in project and programme management of major construction projects and programmes of capital works as well as in contract administration and acting as Engineer to the contract.

Hugh has been responsible for leading the design of numerous unique and complex infrastructure and building projects including residential, commercial, industrial, and other utility buildings. He has extensive experience on development projects on brownfield and contaminated land.

Hugh has extensive experience in the main construction industry forms of agreement including NEC, IChemE, ICE, JCT, FIDIC, and GC/Wks.

He now specialises in providing strategic project advice, independent engineering and construction expert witness, and technical and construction assurance advice to clients on a wide range of critical technical and project delivery issues. Hugh has carried out a significant number of expert appointments on infrastructure and building project disputes on matters relating to project, construction, and contract management as well as design and workmanhip. He has provided written and oral evidence in litigation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration, land tribunal, and public enquiry.
