BACKGROUND:

Martin is a Quantity Surveyor by profession, with 40 years’ commercial management experience in the construction industry.

He has extensive experience of traditional, design & build and development contracts largely on the contractor side dealing with clients on the commercial and contractual matters as well as dealing with the domestic sub-contractors and suppliers. This gives Martin a unique insight into the pricing strategies and techniques used by tenderers in their submissions, as well as the knowledge of the building up of tender rates and risk registers for contingencies etc. He has experience in negotiating target cost projects and traditional measured tenders fully designed or with draft designs for lump sums.

Martin has dispute resolution experience assisting the quantum expert in matters in litigation in the UK and in ICC arbitration. He has been brought into frustrated projects to deal with their final accounts and claim preparation to establish entitlement for inclusion in the final accounts.

Martin has knowledge and understanding of all the major forms of contract which include JCT, NEC, ICE, NR Rail, and other bespoke forms.
