Meet Hamidreza Pirayesh, Ph.D., a Rimkus Senior Consultant and Materials Engineering expert based in San Diego who provides Materials Engineering services to Rimkus clients across the United States. Dr. Pirayesh consults from a materials engineering perspective and has extensive experience with materials characterization and engineering investigations. His focus is generally on the property/structure relationships of glass, ceramics, glass-ceramics, metals, biomaterials, microelectronics, and semiconductors. He also has extensive experience with surface analysis and the evaluation and characterization of mechanical properties.
Dr. Pirayesh began his professional journey working to improve the strength of lead-free solder alloys for microelectronic applications during his undergraduate education. During his graduate studies, he continued evaluating bioglasses and semiconductors. His initial post-graduate professional experience included work with various materials, such as magnesium-based alloys for the oil and gas service industry, semiconductors for the medical industry, and glass/ceramics for the display technology industry. He also has more than four years of experience in failure analysis of glass and glass-ceramics used in the consumable electronics industry. Dr. Pirayesh’s experience within these sectors helped him to gain a deeper understanding of methods of materials characterization and production.
Dr. Pirayesh applies his comprehensive understanding of materials behavior and failure mechanisms in specific applications to provide a broad spectrum of consulting services for Rimkus clients. His work involves both lead and support roles for counsel on either side of potential subrogation claims. Additionally, he performs product failure analyses for small- and large-scale clients, such as those in the automotive, consumer electronics, oil and gas, aerospace, and manufacturing industries.
Dr. Pirayesh has published more than 10 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and patents related to solder alloys, bioactive glass/glass-ceramics, semiconductors, glasses, and ceramics.
