He is also an ACTAR-certified accident reconstructionist and member of the Rimkus Rapid Response team who holds certifications related to fire and explosion investigations, and crash data retrieval for commercial and passenger vehicle accidents. His wide range of experience involves investigations of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC systems, product failures, and pipe freezes. |

Thomas Balutowski, IAAI-CFI, IAAI-CFEI, NAFI-CVFI Thomas Balutowski is a Fire Consultant whose experience includes more than 30 years of public fire service and the investigation of hundreds of fires and explosions. He holds numerous fire investigation certifications through the International Association of Arson Investigators and the National Association of Fire Investigators. His expertise includes fires related to commercial, residential, manufacturing, and industrial properties, as well as automobiles and marine vessels. |

Michael Lutynski Michael Lutynski is a Principal Consultant with more than 25 years of electrical engineering experience. He started his career in Hong Kong, where he operated his own company providing forensic investigations on high-tech equipment and machinery for the insurance and legal industries. Vixar Patel, P.E., NAFI-CFEI Vixar Patel is a professional engineer registered in 14 states, a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, and a Certified Marine Electrical Advisor. He has participated in more than 750 forensic investigations and has wide-ranging expertise related to electrical failure analysis, electrical fires and explosions, consumer appliance failures, battery product failures (including lithium-ion batteries), and solar panel system failures and fires. |

Gregory Smith, Ph.D., P.E. Dr. Gregory Smith is a materials scientist and professional engineer licensed in five states. He has experience in the analysis and forensic investigation of failures and other technical issues related to mechanical failure of products, equipment, components, and systems, including HVAC and plumbing. His expertise in materials science involves metallurgy, ceramics, polymers, surface engineering, protective coatings, and corrosion.
