Background
Mr. Mark Dooley holds a B.A. degree in Business Management and an M.A. in Public Administration and is a Certified Fire Investigator with Vehicle Endorsement through the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), Certified Inspector, and Certified Fire Inspector. He is Fire Alarm System Level I and Level II certified from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
He has been a fire alarm installer and project manager for a large fire alarm contractor, where he installed new fire alarm systems compliant with current adopted codes, wrote the fire alarm program code from approved fire alarm plans, and completed acceptant tests with local government Authorities of Jurisdiction.
He has been a lead instructor since 1999, teaching fire investigation courses at the Des Moines Fire Department to recruits and station personnel, as well as at the Des Moines Police Department to recruits. He was also a member of the validating committee for the Fire Investigator 3rd Edition textbook published by the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA).
As a fire investigator, he has conducted origin and cause investigations on fatal structure fires, residential fires, commercial fires, and vehicle fires. His experience and industry knowledge cover over 28 years in areas of fire suppression operations, paramedic care and transportation, water rescue, hazardous materials, permit inspections, new construction inspections, fire systems plan review, model code adoption, and fire investigations.
