Background
Dr. Isis Chong is a Board-Certified Human Factors Professional. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and a M.S. in Human Factors Psychology from California State University, Long Beach, and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Purdue University.
Dr. Chong has experience in a wide range of human factors topics and domains, such as product design and safety, risk communication, safety-related training, and human factors in accident investigations.
Dr. Chong has more than a decade of experience in human factors and experimental psychology. She has analyzed how product design can ultimately reduce the likelihood of human error and improve overall user safety. Her investigations involve evaluating products and systems against the latest human factors research findings, current industry best practices, and product-specific guidelines and standards. Most recently, she has worked within the medical human factors space, developing and validating various medical devices and combination products. She has spearheaded human factors initiatives throughout the product development cycle, including, but not limited to, prototyping and wireframing, formative and summative testing, and post-market surveillance. Dr. Chong has worked on producing human factors documentation for moderate- and high-risk products marketed in both the US and globally.
Dr. Chong’s graduate work focused on the applied aspects of human performance, including response selection when faced with irrelevant information, risk-related decision-making, and everyday memory errors.
