Christopher Franks

Background

Mr. Christopher Franks is a digital forensics examiner with more than 15 years of combined experience across mobile device forensics, computer forensics, law enforcement investigations, and enterprise cybersecurity. He has personally conducted more than 1,000 forensic examinations of electronic devices in support of civil, criminal, and corporate matters, and has been qualified and testified as an expert witness in digital forensics, evidence collection, and related disciplines.

Mr. Franks specializes in the forensic acquisition and analysis of smartphones and tablets running the Apple iOS and Google Android operating systems, including the recovery of data from locked, encrypted, and physically damaged devices. His work routinely includes the examination of call records, text and multimedia messages, contacts, photographs, video, electronic mail, application data, internet history, location data, cloud backups, deleted records, and social media activity in order to reconstruct events and establish factual timelines.

In addition to mobile and computer forensics, Mr. Franks has experience with the forensic examination of vehicle infotainment and telematics systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and the enhancement and analysis of surveillance video and images. He is experienced in evidence authentication, chain-of-custody management, and the preparation of clear, defensible reports and testimony. Mr. Franks is a United States Army Veteran and is currently a doctoral candidate in Cybersecurity (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) at National University.
