Background
Dr. Nicholas Schock holds a Doctor of Education degree and is an Accredited Accident Reconstructionist through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR #1771). Starting as a patrol officer in 2002, Dr. Schock was a member of the Woolwich Township Police Department for 6 years.
Since 2007, Dr. Schock has been a member of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, and he currently serves as Deputy Chief of Detectives. Dr. Schock has experience in multiple investigative units. As a detective in the Crash Investigation Unit, he investigated hundreds of serious and fatal vehicle collisions and has 18 years of experience in traffic crash reconstruction involving motor vehicles, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians.
Dr. Schock’s areas of expertise include motor vehicle crash reconstruction, motorcycle crash reconstruction, pedestrian/bicycle versus vehicle crash reconstruction, commercial vehicle crash reconstruction, event data recorder (EDR) analysis for passenger vehicles, seatbelt analysis, and rollover crash reconstruction. He has extensive training in crash scene mapping using a Total Station and hand measurements.
Dr. Schock is an instructor for the Kean University Crash Investigation Program, where he teaches courses in the area of Basic and Advanced Crash Investigation. He is a New Jersey Police Training Commission-certified instructor and teaches courses in traffic enforcement, motor vehicle laws, officers’ responsibilities at crash scenes, and motor vehicle stops.
Dr. Schock also has extensive experience in crime scene investigations, including latent fingerprint analysis, photography, shooting reconstruction, and bloodstain analysis. Additionally, Dr. Schock has additional experience in high-tech investigations, including forensic cell phone analysis, digital video recorder (DVR) analysis, and computer forensics.
