
Background
Mr. Kevin Shook holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology and is a registered Professional Engineer in multiple states. He is also a Certified Vehicle Accident Reconstructionist (ACTAR) through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction.
Mr. Shook gained experience in vehicle design, development, and manufacturing through his time with Honda North America. He contributed to the development and launch of several Honda and Acura vehicles and has worked in product testing and development of automotive tires, wheels, suspension, braking, and steering systems. Mr. Shook also has experience with automotive component manufacturing, vehicle assembly processes, and the evaluation and investigation of automotive component and system failures.
Mr. Shook’s forensic experience encompasses the reconstruction of vehicle accidents involving passenger vehicles, commercial tractor‑trailers, motorcycles, pedestrians, bicycles, and recreational vehicles. He is trained in downloading and analyzing event data recorder (EDR) information from passenger vehicles, as well as extracting and analyzing data from commercial vehicles. He has investigated component and system failures on vehicles. His experience includes crash site inspections, documentation, roadway evidence analysis, and scene mapping. Mr. Shook has also conducted forensic investigations involving vehicle components and system failures. He is a certified small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) remote pilot and utilizes drone technology for aerial documentation and evidence collection in forensic investigations.
In addition to automotive matters, Mr. Shook performs mechanical failure analysis across a broad range of engineered systems. His experience includes investigations involving heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; fire protection systems; piping and plumbing systems; vertical transportation systems; hydraulics; door systems; ladders; and industrial machinery. He has conducted both destructive and non‑destructive testing in support of product liability investigations, with work performed in field settings and laboratory environments.
