Background
Mr. Robert Baldinger holds a B.S. in General Science and an M.S. in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Texas.
Mr. Baldinger’s expertise includes construction and structural engineering with emphasis on the construction and performance evaluation of low- and mid-rise residential, institutional, and commercial buildings. Types of facilities investigated include assembly facilities (e.g., churches and restaurants), business, educational, factory and industrial (e.g., power plant), institutional (e.g., hospitals, jails, and detention centers), mercantile, residential (e.g.,-single-family, multi-family, and hotels), storage (e.g., aircraft hangars and warehouses), and utility and miscellaneous facilities (e.g., retaining wall, fences, barns, and residential swimming pools). Facility components investigated include foundations, building structures (cast-in-place and post-tensioned concrete structures, steel building systems, masonry structures, and wood-framed structures), building envelopes (particularly roofs), and interior finishes for walls, floors, and ceilings. Mr. Baldinger has taught undergraduate courses in Structural Engineering at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture and at the U.S. Military Academy.
Mr. Baldinger has extensive experience in the construction industry and in the forensic evaluation of engineering and construction failures. He has performed work on assignments involving building code compliance, construction defects, foundation movement, construction contractual disputes, structural failures, building envelope water intrusion, post-fire structural issues, vibration effects resulting from blasting, earthquakes, construction equipment, and sonic booms, storm and flood damage, hail damage, damage from high winds, vehicle impact to buildings, and plumbing leaks. Mr. Baldinger has performed thermal imaging to investigate moisture intrusion of the building envelope and has provided expert witness testimony.
