714MW Offshore Wind Farm Project

Background

The project involved a 714 MW offshore wind farm comprises 102 Siemens Gamesa turbines, each with a capacity up to 7 MW, located in the North Sea. The offshore wind farm significantly contributes to the UK’s transition to clean energy and is capable of generating enough electricity to power the equivalent of 630,000 homes annually.

Services Provided

Supply delays relating to some of the turbine jackets were alleged to have resulted in a critical delay to the project. Rimkus was appointed to determine the true criticality of the delay event. Using a combination of but-for and windows-based time slice analyses, Rimkus identified significant levels of float and flexibility within the project’s scheduled sequence, which could not be determined through the claimant’s preferred delay methodology.

Rimkus determined that there would likely be no critical delays to the project and that no claim would be presented by the insured.
