Background
Along with a B.Ch.E. degree in Chemical Engineering, Mr. Roger Champlin has extensive industry experience in tires and rubber-related products and processes.
He worked for 39 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and, during that time, had assignments in all major divisions of the company including Research, Chemical Division, Engineered Products, Tire Development, and Race Tire Manufacturing at the Akron Technical Center.
His experience and industry knowledge span over 45 years in the areas of reinforcement materials development, compounding, rubber testing, tire design, tire production industrialization, engineering management, and budget control. Mr. Champlin’s areas of expertise also include managing race tire production and implementing quality control measures to reduce the failure rate of racing tires in the field. Mr. Champlin has extensive experience in the area of calendering reinforcements for tire components. Mr. Champlin was responsible for the testing and release of all reinforced components used in the manufacture of Goodyear racing tires for over 17 years at the Akron production plant.
As a forensic engineer, Mr. Champlin is responsible for investigating, analyzing, evaluating, and documenting tire- and rubber-related failures in vehicles or manufactured products. Mr. Champlin has conducted over 150 tire forensic investigations since his employment at Rimkus.
