Experienced construction professionals solving your problems.

For more than 40 years, we have served the construction industry with our expertise. Over the decades, we have investigated problems across a wide variety of construction issues on behalf of property owners, home builders, developers, construction owners, architects, engineers, contractors, insurers, sureties, and law firms.

At Rimkus, our team of construction professionals consists of architects, engineers, construction managers, cost estimators, LEED® accredited professionals, and technical experts. With extensive experience in every phase of construction, our team has addressed a wide range of complex claims and disputes involving design errors and omissions, construction defects, construction injury accidents, builder’s risk claims, vibration claims, contractor pollution events, surety bond defaults, economic damage claims, and related matters.

Residential Construction

Our most common assignments related to residential construction are water-related events:

  • Water Intrusion
  • Leaking Roofing Systems
  • Improperly Flashed Chimneys, Windows, and Doors
  • Foundation Failures
  • Plumbing Leaks
  • Improperly Installed Stucco, EIFS, or Other Siding Materials
  • Weather Events Such as Rain, Hail, and Flood Damage

Water damage can result in fungal growth which can displace homeowners. We work with our clients to determine the issues at hand and solutions to the problems in order to promptly restore the property and minimize relocation costs.

Commercial Construction

Commercial buildings share some of the same problems as residential construction. However, commercial construction adds a variety of other problems to be investigated, including:

  • Design and Construction Defects
  • Building Code Compliance and Life Safety Issues
  • Building Products and Material Failures
  • Flat Roofs and Associated Water Handling Systems
  • Building Envelopes and Vapor Barrier Systems
  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems
  • Commercial HVAC Equipment
  • Window Walls and Commercial Window Systems
  • Soil Erosion and Geotechnical Hazards
  • Construction Vibration Assessments of Surrounding Properties
  • Construction Accidents and OSHA Compliance
  • Slip-and-Fall and Trip-and-Fall Incidents
  • Contractor Pollution Events

Examination of problems with high-rise offices, multi-family buildings, and construction sites can lead to the investigation of a wide range of issues. From design and construction defects to construction means and methods, as well as operations, training, and maintenance can make each assignment far more complex. As a result, clarity in reporting is key in answering our client’s questions. Commercial construction issues can lead to lost profits for affected businesses, making timely resolution of construction issues even more critical.

Industrial Construction

The complexities of industrial construction are many and varied. In addition to the typical structural issues, we also investigate piping of all manner of liquids ranging from cryogenic to superheated electrical and pneumatic control systems, safety systems, and individual pieces of equipment.

We conduct verification of performance for equipment as compared to manufacturers’ specifications, comparison of installation to plan documents, correct piping and control systems, and more. This may take place in a plant facility that is under construction, fully constructed, and in service, but not meeting its design specifications or even following explosions and fires to determine the cause of the incident. All components of a modern industrial facility, including steam boilers, gas turbines, valves, piping, gauges, flare stacks, and storage tanks, come into play during these investigations and are handled by our experts.
