
Background
Mr. Kamrany holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine with a specialty in structural engineering and an M.S. in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He is an accomplished structural engineer with 30 years of experience in designing, design-repair, and forensic investigation projects related to construction defects, structural damage, and design deficiencies. His expertise spans both commercial and residential sectors, where he has successfully led design, investigations, retrofits, and remediation projects, while providing expert analysis and testimony. His experience in structural engineering includes the design of new buildings, as well as research, analysis, retrofitting, forensic investigation, insurance investigation, and evaluation of existing buildings for compliance with applicable building codes.
His experience also includes the retrofit of several California highway bridges, the design of a new bridge, and the design of numerous earth-retaining structures such as concrete and masonry retaining walls, concrete box culverts, and rectangular and trapezoidal concrete channels.
Mr. Kamrany has provided deposition and arbitration testimony as an expert witness. He served as a forensic structural engineer evaluating construction and design defect allegations on structural matters related to building lateral and gravity systems as well as earth retaining structures. He has also investigated insurance claims related to serviceability of gravity framing systems. He provides structural engineering solutions to building owners, contractors, insurance companies, and attorneys, with a focus on investigation, assessment, analysis, repair, and retrofit of buildings and other structures.
He has extensive experience researching and interpreting the requirements for various building codes, including seismic, wind, and fire safety requirements. His code expertise spans the California Building Code (CBC), Uniform Building Code (UBC), International Building Code (IBC), and ASCE 7 standard.
With a proven track record in both forensic engineering and project management, Mr. Kamrany has contributed to hundreds of successful projects and legal cases, blending technical knowledge with strategic leadership to deliver detailed solutions in the built environment.
