Background
Mr. Bret Schleissing holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, and New Jersey.
Upon earning his degree in Civil Engineering with a Structures emphasis from the University of South Florida, he designed industrial and waterfront structures in Florida, New York, Jamaica, Colombia, and Puerto Rico, utilizing structural systems for steel, wood, and concrete structures designed for both earthquake and hurricane force loads. In addition to his design responsibilities, he also performed plan reviews and structural assessments.
Mr. Schleissing has orchestrated numerous investigations of commercial buildings, waterfront structures, multi-building residential complexes, and single-family residential structures for cause and origin, extent of damage, and scope of repair as it relates to property structural damage and construction defects. These investigations have incorporated the use of destructive and non-destructive testing to pinpoint the locations of deficiencies and underlying damage.
Mr. Schleissing has extensive experience in forensic analyses of structural damage caused by fire, wind, hail, lightning, flood, soil subsidence, water intrusion, vehicle impact, and construction defects, as well as cause and origin investigations of collapsed structures during construction. These analyses have oftentimes included comprehensive code evaluations in which he has had to present and interpret code issues for insurance and litigation entities. He has provided litigation support and testified in deposition.
