Background

Mr. David Metallo holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. He is a licensed Residential Home Builder in the state of Alabama. He has an extensive background in construction services and has combined this expertise with significant design and project management experience in construction services, structural engineering design, building envelope analysis, stormwater system analysis, and failure analysis.

As a structural engineer, Mr. Metallo’s design and analysis experience included contract management, the design of all elements and systems of site and building structures, multi-discipline design coordination management, BIM modeling, and construction administration.  His projects included single-family residences, multi-family mixed-use facilities, commercial office buildings, institutional classroom facilities, storm shelter design, power generation facilities, pulp and paper production facilities, and chemical plant facilities.  Mr. Metallo’s experience has encompassed projects with nearly every building material, including wood and timber framing, light-gauge metal framing, structural steel, plain, mild- and post-tensioned reinforced concrete, and reinforced masonry.

As a construction project technician, Mr. Metallo’s responsibilities included estimating, contract management, resource planning, scheduling, procurement, BIM management, and project execution.  His projects included single- and multi-family housing developments, hospitals, manufacturing, institutional and commercial buildings, parking structures, pulp and paper facility expansions, and chemical plant expansions.

Mr. Metallo’s employment with his family’s construction company provided an opportunity to gain hands-on project management experience on high-end residential projects across the low country of South Carolina. This experience serves him well in understanding how projects come together and the correct way to construct them. In addition to project management, Mr. Metallo gained hands-on field experience installing various materials and products ranging from roof coverings to concrete foundation systems. His project management and field experience have provided Mr. Metallo with expertise in construction means and methods, project cost estimating,  as well as an understanding of the standard of care in the construction industry.

As a licensed residential home builder in Alabama, he has performed multiple renovations and additions to residential structures. These projects included self-performed work through each phase of construction, including foundations, wood-framing, building envelope, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and interior/exterior finishes. This experience provided Mr. Metallo with the opportunity to further his understanding of current building materials and systems through hands-on application of codes and manufacturers’ installation requirements. He utilized this experience to further his knowledge of complex build systems to be able to provide guidance to clients on each phase of the construction process.
