Background
Mr. Dereck Hodson holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from Utah State University. He is a registered professional engineer in Utah, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Indiana, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and Colorado.
Mr. Hodson’s structural design experience includes wood, masonry, concrete, structural steel, and fiberglass structures. His work has also focused on performing forensic evaluations of residential and building structures. Representative design projects designed include single-family and multi-family buildings, light commercial buildings, heavy industrial buildings, storage tanks, retaining walls, deep foundations, structural steel structures, blast-resistance structures, structural repair/remediation of buildings and homes, seismic upgrades, and demolition plans. These projects have ranged in size from small residences to a new mining shaft with a budget of $500 million. His experience also includes the use of finite-element software. He has used FEM software in the analysis and design of bridges, storage tanks, blast resistance structures, and floor slabs. He has also performed code and seismic evaluations of existing buildings to determine the extent and required repairs and upgrades required by the governing codes and building officials.
In addition to Mr. Hodson’s design experience, he has managed projects producing budgets, schedules, cost estimates, construction bid documents, and reports.
