Background
Mr. Duncan Doss holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston and is a registered professional civil engineer in Texas.
Mr. Doss has been providing forensic engineering consulting services with Rimkus for over 33 years in a number of areas, including cause and origin investigations and damage determinations regarding performance issues and failures involving construction, and civil and structural engineering designs. His experience also includes recommending and designing a protocol to repair damage resulting from design and construction defects, fires, explosions, and natural catastrophes.
Mr. Doss has responded to a number of petrochemical and natural disasters, such as fires, explosions, tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods. He provided consulting services on cases involving project administration, construction contract evaluation, construction management, construction vibration analysis, geotechnical studies, and various premises liability assignments. In performing this work, Mr. Doss has evaluated projects involving the design and construction of civil engineering facilities, including residential and commercial buildings and municipal utilities. Typical assignments include moisture intrusion through building envelopes, foundation and structural failures relating to long-term performance issues, and damages due to natural catastrophes and construction-related defects.
Mr. Doss’ professional specialties also include building code interpretation and premises liability analysis, including slip-trip-and-falls, falls from heights, and accidents involving handrails, walkways, stairways, and ramps. Mr. Doss developed and managed a corporate collection of Brungraber Mark-1 machines and is skilled in performing coefficient of friction measurements with the drag sled (ASTM C-1028), the English XL, the Brungraber Mark IIIB, the BOT 3000 E, the GS-1, and the Brungraber Mark-1 for bathtubs (ASTM F462-2007). Mr. Doss has qualified as an expert in both state and federal courts.
