Emilie Potts

Background

Ms. Emilie Potts has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Western University, nearing the completion of her doctoral studies. She currently holds Engineering-In-Training (EIT) status with Professional Engineers Ontario and is actively progressing towards the Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario.

Her research focuses on the relationship between how engineering parameters and biological factors (sex and age) affect injury response following a traumatic brain injury (TBI). As a member of Western’s Impact Biomechanics Laboratory, Ms. Potts has collaborated extensively with the Neuroscience and Medical Biophysics departments to strengthen the interdisciplinary foundation of her doctoral work.

With a strong interdisciplinary background in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering, Ms. Potts has developed expertise in human factors, medical modalities, finite element modeling (FEM), injury and accident reconstruction, helmet safety assessments, and physical testing methodologies, including both animal and hybrid anthropomorphic testing devices. Her work integrates engineering analysis with biological insight to advance understanding of injury mechanisms and improve safety design strategies.
